Any questions?
At Medi8 Therapy, we know you may have questions about our services and how everything works. To make things easier, we’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions to help guide you. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please get in touch. We’re here to help.
Clients are required to attend an initial consultation appointment, during the first session, expect to discuss the history of your relationship distress. We will explore and discover all the main problems you are experiencing and what causes most of the issues in the relationship. There is also some contractual paperwork that will need to be completed.
This is a two-way process, at this stage, it's important to get the right person to support you on this journey so this 'getting to know you' session will make sure that on both sides, it's a partnership that feels right.
Counselling and relationship coaching share similarities, but they are different approaches designed to meet different needs.
A Counsellor:
A counsellor is trained to support people with deeper emotional or psychological issues. Counselling often focuses on exploring past experiences, emotional healing, and helping clients work through distress, trauma, or mental health concerns. Counsellors typically work in a non-directive way and follow a therapeutic model.
A Relationship Expert or Coach:
As a relationship expert, my focus is on helping couples and individuals move forward. Coaching is more goal-oriented, practical, and solution-focused. I help clients develop communication skills, build stronger connections, and create strategies for positive change in their relationships.
I do not offer counselling or mental health treatment, and if deeper emotional support is needed, I will always signpost clients to a suitable counsellor.
During the first few sessions, you as a couple will be supported to create some goals based on what you both want from your relationship. You may have goals as a couple as well as individual ones. It is also likely that you will be given 'homework' to do outside of the sessions. to ensure the focus remains between the appointments.
Our relationship expert is non-judgmental, acts with professionalism and will not take sides. It's not about who is right or wrong, it's hearing and understanding each other's views with the support from an impartial individual.
We understand that the first few sessions might feel uncomfortable but the more you get to know us, the more it will feel natural to open up and be able to share your feelings.
We specialise in relationship and marriage support, couples and relationship coaching. We can help you work through issues such as infidelity, loss of trust, jealousy, lack of compromise, lack of respect, bad behaviours, misdirected anger, being unsupportive, poor communication. This list isn't exhaustive and any other issue can be explored in the initial consultation session.
