-
Will the therapist takes sides?Your therapist is non-judgmental, acts with professionalism and will not take sides. It's not about who is right or wrong, it's hearing and understanding each other's views with the support from an impartial individual. We understand that the first few sessions might feel uncomfortable but the more you get to know your counsellor, the more it will feel natural to open up and be able to share your feelings.
-
Where are you based?Medi8 Therapy is based in Daventry, Northamptonshire. We are ten minutes (six miles) from Junction 18 of the M1 and 15 minutes from Junction 1 of the M6 (Rugby). The nearest train station is Long Buckby (10 minutes by car)
-
How long is a session?A session is typically around an hour.
-
Do we both have to attend? Most couples prefer to attend together to work through issues, however, it may be necessary to have some individual sessions dependent on circumstances and this can be discussed with your therapist during your initial consultation.
-
What is the therapy room like? The Medi8 Therapy room is a cosy, private room within my home. The room is comfortable, relaxing with ambient lighting and decor.
-
What happens at the first session?Clients are required to attend an initial consultation appointment, during the first session, expect to discuss the history of your relationship distress. The therapist will want to find out all about you and discover all the main problems you are experiencing and what causes most of the issues in the relationship. There is also some contractual paperwork that will need to be completed. This is a two-way process, at this stage you don't know your therapist, and they don't yet know you so it's a 'getting to know you' session to make sure that on both sides, it's a partnership that feels right.
-
What issues can Medi8 Therapy help with?We specialise in couple's counselling and marriage/relationship therapy. We can help you work through issues such as infidelity, loss of trust, jealousy, lack of compromise, lack of respect, bad behaviours, misdirected anger, being unsupportive, poor communication. This list isn't exhaustive and any other issue can be explored in the initial consultation session.

What will future sessions look like after we have started therapy?During the first few sessions, you as a couple, together with your therapist will create some goals based on what you both want from your relationship. You may have couples goals as well as individual ones. It is also likely that you will be given 'homework' to do outside of the sessions. to ensure you make progress between the therapy sessions.

Can you support members of the LGBTQ+ community? Here at Medi8 Therapy we are very inclusive and are happy to support all individuals from all walks of life irrespective of sexual orientation, sexuality or gender.
