How we can help
Infidelity, betrayal and affairs
WHEN INFIDELITY CHANGES EVERYTHING
Finding out your partner has had an affair or has been unfaithful can leave you questioning everything. You might want to save your relationship, feel that you can never trust them again, or have absolutely no idea what you want. You might even feel differently from one day to the next.
If you've been unfaithful, you may be struggling with guilt, wondering how to put things right or feeling that whatever you say makes things worse.
Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to have all the answers before asking for help.
At Medi8 Therapy, Stu offers straightforward, non-judgemental support to help you talk about what's happened, understand where things stand and decide what you want to do next.
CAN WE GET PAST INFIDELITY?
There's no simple answer to this. Every relationship is different, and what works for one couple won't necessarily work for another.
You might be struggling to talk without an argument breaking out. One of you may want to put the betrayal behind you, while the other needs answers and reassurance. Perhaps you've talked about it so many times that you're both exhausted, but nothing seems to change.
It can be hard to know how to break that pattern, particularly when emotions are running high.
An affair can bring up a whole range of emotions for both partners. The person who has been betrayed may feel hurt, angry, rejected or insecure, while the person who has been unfaithful may be experiencing guilt, shame, regret or frustration.
It's important that both partners have the opportunity to express their emotions and feel that those emotions are validated. Validation doesn't mean agreeing with everything someone says or excusing what has happened. It means acknowledging how someone feels and helping each other understand the impact the affair has had.
Understanding and validating each other's emotions can help you communicate more openly, work through the hurt and begin to explore what happens next.
Talking things through with someone who isn't caught up in the situation can help you look at what's happening between you and work out what needs to change.
HOW CAN MEDI8 THERAPY HELP?
There's no script to follow after infidelity, and we won't tell you what you should do with your relationship.
Instead, the focus is on the things you need to talk about and the changes that could make a difference.
That might include:
Talking honestly about what happened and how it's affected you both.
Understanding and validating each other's emotions, recognising that you may be experiencing very different feelings about the affair and its impact on your relationship.
Understanding why conversations keep turning into arguments or going nowhere.
Working out what you each need if you're going to try to rebuild trust.
Being clear about what needs to change, rather than making promises that are difficult to keep.
Deciding whether you both want to continue the relationship and what that would involve.
You don't have to agree on everything to start making progress. You do need an opportunity to be heard and to listen to each other.
WHAT IF WE DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO STAY TOGETHER?
You don't need to have made that decision before you get in touch.
Sometimes, one person is determined to save the relationship while the other is unsure. Sometimes, neither of you knows what you want, but you know that carrying on as you are isn't working.
You can use the time to talk honestly about your relationship, what's happened and whether there's something worth rebuilding. If you decide that separating is the right choice, you can also work towards having those conversations more constructively.
The decision is yours. The important thing is having the chance to make it with a better understanding of where you both stand.
THINGS YOU MAY BE THINKING
Can you help us rebuild trust after infidelity?
Yes. If you both want to work on the relationship, sessions can help you talk about what's happened, agree on what needs to change and consider what rebuilding trust will look like in everyday life. It takes time, and there are no guarantees, but you can start by having a different kind of conversation.
What if my partner doesn't want to come?
You can get in touch to discuss your situation and the options available. Individual relationship support may be helpful even if your partner isn't ready to take part.
Will you take sides?
The aim is to understand what's happening in your relationship and help you have more useful conversations, not to decide who is right and who is wrong. That doesn't mean ignoring hurtful behaviour or avoiding difficult questions.
What should I do next?
You might have lots of questions, or you might simply know that things can't carry on as they are. We offer a free 15-minute call where you can introduce yourself, ask any questions and talk through what's happening. It's also an opportunity for our therapist, Stu to understand your situation and establish whether the support you need is something Medi8 can help with.
There's no pressure to commit to anything. It's simply a chance to have a conversation and see if we're the right fit for you. The first step is to get in touch by phone, text, Whatsapp, Email or via our contact form, whichever method is the best fit for you.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS...
"When I first contacted Stu, my husband and I were at breaking point in our marriage and honestly didn’t know where to turn next. From the very beginning, Stu was welcoming, warm, and incredibly easy to talk to. He immediately made us feel at ease despite the apprehension and nerves we both had about starting relationship coaching.
During our joint sessions, Stu created a safe and balanced space where we both felt heard. He was always fair, supportive, and guided conversations in a way that allowed us to be completely honest with each other without fear of judgement.
The guidance, strategies, and tools Stu provided have genuinely helped us rebuild our marriage and reconnect in ways we didn’t think were possible at the time. He gave us practical techniques that we continue to use every day, and we now feel much stronger as a couple because of the work we did with him.
Stu was exactly what we needed during one of the hardest periods in our relationship, and we are so grateful for his support and guidance."
