How we can help

Relationship breakups

WHEN A RELATIONSHIP COMES TO AN END

Relationships end for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it's a decision you've both reached, and sometimes one person is left trying to make sense of what's happened.

You might be feeling sad, angry, confused or unsure about what comes next. Even when you know the relationship isn't working, accepting that it may be over can be difficult.

When emotions are running high, talking to each other about the future can feel almost impossible.

At Medi8 Therapy, Stu offers practical support to help you work through difficult conversations, understand each other's perspectives and make decisions about what happens next.

HOW DO WE MOVE FORWARD WHEN WE ARE STRUGGLING TO TALK?

When a relationship breaks down, there can be a lot to work through. You may have different views about why things went wrong, what should happen next or how to deal with the practicalities of separating.

Conversations can quickly become arguments, leaving important decisions unresolved and making an already difficult situation even harder.

Having someone impartial to help you navigate those conversations can make it easier to discuss difficult subjects, understand where each of you stands and work towards a way forward.

HOW CAN MEDI8 THERAPY HELP?

Stu at Medi8 Therapy provides a neutral, impartial space where you can talk through the challenges you're facing and work out how to move forward.

This might include:

Having difficult conversations that you've been struggling to manage on your own.

Expressing your feelings and understanding each other's perspectives.

Working through disagreements without getting caught up in the same arguments.

Discussing the practical decisions that need to be made about your future.

Finding common ground where possible, even when you don't agree on everything.

You don't have to see things the same way to have a more constructive conversation. The aim is to help you deal with the situation in front of you and make decisions with a clearer understanding of where you both stand.

WHAT IF WE'RE FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT THE BREAKUP?

A relationship ending can bring up all sorts of emotions. You might feel relieved one day and upset the next, struggle to understand why things have changed or find it difficult to imagine life without your partner.

You may also be dealing with anger, disappointment or a sense of rejection. These feelings can make it harder to have calm, practical conversations about the future.

Talking things through can help you make sense of your feelings and consider what you need to do next. You don't have to have everything figured out before asking for support.

CAN MEDI8 THERAPY HELP WITH LIFE DIRECTION AFTER A SPLIT?

A relationship ending can leave you questioning more than just your relationship. You might be wondering what you want from life, whether it's time for a change or how to move forward when the future looks very different from the one you'd imagined.

Perhaps you've spent years building a life with someone else and now need to work out what you want for yourself. Or maybe you know you want things to change but aren't quite sure where to start.

Medi8 Therapy can help you take a step back, look at what's important to you and work out what you'd like your next chapter to look like. We can help you work out what you want, explore your options and decide what steps to take next.

THINGS YOU MAY BE THINKING

Can you help if we've already decided to separate?

Yes. You don't have to be trying to save your relationship. Support can help you have more constructive conversations, work through disagreements and deal with the changes ahead.

What if we disagree about everything?

You may not agree about why the relationship ended or what should happen next. Having someone impartial involved can help you discuss those differences and identify areas where you may be able to find common ground.

Can you help us make decisions about separating?

Medi8 can help you talk through relationship issues and navigate difficult conversations. If you need formal mediation about finances, property or arrangements for children, it's important to establish whether you need a specialist mediation service.

What should I do next?

You might know exactly what's causing problems in your relationship, or you might simply feel that something isn't right any more. We offer a free 15-minute call where you can introduce yourself, ask any questions and talk through what's happening. It's also an opportunity for our therapist, Stu to understand your situation and establish whether the support you need is something Medi8 can help with.

There's no pressure to commit to anything. It's simply a chance to have a conversation and see if we're the right fit for you. The first step is to get in touch by phone, text, Whatsapp, Email or via our contact form, whichever method is the best fit for you.
